Yank In Australia

All about my goofy self and my travels in Australia.

It’s been awhile. I could never be a writer....I once considered writing a book on all my adventures, but I would need a strong ghost writer because I am a lazy ass!

Onto the ramblings...my friend from the big Chi Melissa was in town for 10 days. It was a blast to have her around- a little reminder of the city I love. AND she brought me gifts! Stuff is super expensive out here when you are jobless and I miss the cheap Tar-jay goods, so she brought me some cosmetics and even a wallet from the Liberty of London collection. I love that stuff! It was a mild touristy visit- we didn’t do the city in a hardcore way. The usual suspects- The Opera House (really the Opera House bar!) the Queen Victoria Building- some the CBD, the beach, Pancakes on the Rocks and a Koala Sanctuary. She went scuba diving on her own and unfortunately they didn’t take photos at this place- but she seemed to have a good time.

For those that might be wondering, I did have a job a month or so ago. I got ‘let go’. I was on a manager’s radar and I KNOW he hated my guts. I had one long, bad day (in his eyes, I mean I could tell he was ready to rumble with me) and next thing I knew, I was being asked to return my apron. At some point I will have the strength to finish the long, excruciating tale (yet another story I started but haven’t finished) but for now let’s just say I got screwed. It really does help to kiss the right butt, and I don’t kiss butt -it was a restaurant for goodness sake- not SKY news!! I hindsight, I wish I had cussed him out when I had the chance. Dang!

I did have an interview last week, which I bombed because I was too nervous. I have decided that next interview I won’t wear my glasses so that I can’t really see facial expressions. I get intimidated quickly these days. So pathetic! I need some good drugs or perhaps hypnosis.... until then, I sit online applying over and over. I would like to default to being a barista, but apparently since I don’t know how to do coffee art, I am not a ‘proper’ barista. *sigh*
